In order to fully appreciate the potential of the inquiry-based learning for your courses follow these tips:

1. Be the Learner. Explore the modules through the lens of the learner. Read through the entire module, in sequence. Inquiry-based design is a process, and therefore, the value of the approach is only evident if the module is sampled entirely, in sequence.

2. Dive In. The primary module for review is the first sample module, PBHLTH 170: Introduction to Global Health. It is fully annotated (red text) and has student work samples. Don't skip the videos in this module! They explain the role of each assignment in the inquiry-based learning sequence. They are short -- each under 5 minutes. After you have completed your review of PBHLTH 170, select another module or two to review module design and assignment types. Subsequent modules, however, do not have as much annotation and there are no student samples.

3. Review. As you review the samples, note the sequence and structure of the inquiry-based design and activities:

Module structure: Each module begins with a topic, question or issue to explore. The activities are sequenced to lead students through a process of exploration, analysis, evaluation and synthesis of ideas.
Use of SuiteC: SuiteC is the key to these inquiry-based modules. It offers two tools that allow students to collect and curate resources associated with the topic, and then collaborate and construct their own meaning. The Asset Library creates a closed and controlled research environment in which students can collected and curate resources. The Whiteboard integrates with the Asset Library to support creative and critical thinking, collaboration and drawing their own conclusions.

4. Analyze and Reflect. After you have reviewed a couple of module activities, think the benefits of this course/module design for learners. Would this approach work for certain units/modules in your course? If so, which ones? How would you modify/adapt the module design to create inquiry-learning opportunities your course(s)?
